The Spokane Shock announced several roster moves, including a trade and the departure of a standout receiver Kamar Jorden to Calgary of the Canadian Football League.

Jorden had 1,119 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns as a rookie last season. The Shock moved swiftly to shore up the receiving position, trading backup quarterback Arvell Nelson and offensive lineman Ben Ossai to Pittsburgh for receiver Mike Washington, who had 114 catches for 1,367 yards and 30 touchdowns last season.

Spokane re-signed veteran defensive lineman Jeremy Geathers. Standout linebacker Beau Bell opted to sign with the L.A. Kiss.

Spokane also signed defensive backs Bryan Nnabuife and Troy Butler and offensive linemen Nick Speller and Cameron Stephenson.

Nnabuife, a Cal graduate, began the 2012 and 2013 seasons on Spokane’s roster but played in the CFL. Butler, who played at Kansas State, spent time in the CFL with Calgary and B.C. Speller, an AFL rookie who played collegiately at Massachusetts, was released by Tampa Bay of the NFL. Stephenson spent parts of four NFL seasons with five teams and he also played one year in the UFL.

--The trade of Nelson appears to be another indication that Spokane feels it is in good shape to re-sign starting quarterback Erik Meyer. Nothing has been finalized, in part because Meyer is extremely busy as quarterbacks coach at Central Washington.
