Gonzaga’s Albanez makes most of minutes

This week's women's basketball notebook features Gonzaga sophomore guard Keani Albanez, who doesn't start for the Bulldogs but provides the team's top scoring average per minutes played. Read story

Albanez said her game time isn't scripted.

"It's just on how the game's going," she said. "If (coach Kelly Graves) wants more of a fast-paced game, if the game's not going fast enough, or he wants a defensive stopper, he'll go with the flow."

Although she can inject instant offense, Albanez also puts pride in her defense.

"I like to pressure the ball a lot, kind of make things happen, get steals and stuff," she said.

Albanez said she's gaining confidence in her 3-point shooting but has always considered herself more of a midrange shooter.

She doesn't spend much time analyzing her statistics.

"I'm not really worried about that as long as our team keeps winning," she said.
