Roundup of Vandal commits
On the eve of signing day, we've got a look at the University of Idaho's recruiting efforts in what will be Robb Akey's fifth class. Much is unknown at this point -- Akey will hold a press conference at noon tomorrow -- but one late verbal commit we know about is Ian Silbernagel, a QB/safety from McKay High in Oregon.

Obviously lots of California and Washington commits on this list (and none from Idaho). Defensive line and wide receiver also seem to be a big emphasis for UI coaches.
There are a few other players who have been listed as Idaho commits at different times, most notably Dion Bass, the brother of Vandal running back Ryan Bass. Dion, a cornerback, is apparently looking seriously at Nebraska after verballing to UI.
Akey has already lost several notable targets who originally committed to Idaho, including Desmond Collins of Salt Lake (now Oregon State-bound) and Dillon Lukehart of Eagle, Idaho (Boise State-bound).
Perhaps the most interesting prospect is Blackman, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound quarterback who originally signed at the University of Washington before leaving after Tyrone Willingham's firing. He spent the last two years at a junior college in California and Old Dominion.
Blackman said he had offers from UTEP and Hawaii while other schools were recruiting him as an athlete. "But I just had to trust the (UI) coaching staff here and how they recruited me," Blackman said Tuesday evening. "And it just felt like a good fit."
Blackman enrolled at UI last month (he's already signed his letter of intent) and must sit out the 2011 season. He has two years of eligibility left, he said. "We’ve got some great quarterbacks here," he said. "But I don’t want to see myself as competing with the other players. I’m just competing with myself."
