Davis cleared to play; Vandals set hoops schedule
We've got a few Idaho-related notes of interest for you this evening, most notably good news on the injury front for the Vandal football team and the release of the men's basketball schedule. And speaking of scheduling, UI AD Rob Spear has talked to his counterpart at Boise State about the much-discussed Vandal-Bronco football rivalry.
Read on.
*******
- First, Preston Davis announced on his Twitter page that he's been cleared by doctors to play in the season opener, versus North Dakota on Sept. 2. Davis, recovering from a torn ACL, was initially supposed to miss up to the first five games. But he's been on the fast track for some time.
- Next, Rob Spear appeared on a Boise radio station today and said he's talked to Boise State AD Gene Bleymaier about perhaps playing beyond this season -- the last for BSU in the WAC before heading off to the Mountain West.
- Lastly, the UI men's basketball schedule is out, and the Vandals will play two Pac-10 teams -- WSU and Oregon -- in the non-conference and host their own tournament, the BTI Classic, on Dec. 3-5. Joining UI will be North Dakota, Monmouth, and Eastern Michigan.
