No fooling around at WSU

COUGARS

Never was a real big fan of April Fools' Day. Maybe because I'm pretty much of a fool 365 days a year – 366 once every four, when I vote in a presidential election. So all those "funny" April Fools' stories? They're not getting linked here. You have to find them yourself. For real stories, read on.
••••••••••

• It took us awhile, but we finally figured out all the stories coming out of Eugene weren't of the April Fools' variety. They had just enough weirdness to make you wonder. After all, who takes a job that pays almost a million a year and then doesn't have a contract? Besides Mike Price, we mean. But that seems to be the case with Mike Bellotti as AD at Oregon. And, as you read this, it's obvious there was plenty of time to get one done. ... The whole thing stinks to one Oregonian columnist. ... Nike's Phil Knight has his say about the basketball coach search. ... St. John's hired former UCLA coach Steve Lavin and at least one person didn't think it was great idea. ... OK, back to spring football, with UCLA starting practice today looking to figure out some things and ASU in the middle of its time, looking to utilize the tight end more.

•••••

• That's all for this morning. We'll be back after practice this afternoon – my understanding is there will be no pads – with our usual report. Until then ...
