Summer starts for WSU


COUGARS

School's out, but sports teams still carry on. There's the WSU baseball team finishing up the Pac-10 season en route to its first NCAA berth in almost 20 years. And the track teams are competing in the conference championships. Read on.

• With school done for the summer, and most football and basketball players scattered for the next month, there isn't much to write about in those arenas. Though Cory Mackay continues to battle back from the spinal injury suffered in last week's accident and Buster Sports' Nick Daschel looks at the Pac-10 coaches on the bubble as it pertains to job security. ... There's baseball news, with WSU winning the middle game of its three-game series with Oregon. The series, pushed back a day due to WSU's Friday graduations, concludes today. ... Finally, from last week when we were on vacation, there's this ESPN piece on Ken Bone taking over in Pullman.
