Idaho prep hoops

North Idaho 5A and 4A girls basketball teams are in their final week of the regular season.

The Coeur d'Alene girls (18-0 overall, 9-0 in Inland Empire League) will play host to the first night of the 5A Region I tournament, which begins Feb. 6. As top seed, Coeur d'Alene will play No. 4, which will be either Lewiston (13-4, 5-3) or Lake City (10-6, 4-5). The second and third seeds play in the other game. Post Falls (12-5, 6-2) has the inside track to the second seed. The championship game is Feb. 10.

In 4A, Moscow (3-13, 1-7) can lock up the No. 1 seed with a win at Sandpoint (2-16, 0-8) on Friday. The 4A Region I tournament begins Tuesday with Lakeland (12-4), the pre-determined No. 3 seed, traveling to the No. 2 seed. The double-elimination tourney continues with the championship game Feb. 10.

In 3A, Intermountain League teams don't conclude league play until Feb. 7. Four teams are tied with two losses. They are: Bonners Ferry (10-4, 5-2), Timberlake (11-5, 5-2), St. Maries (8-8, 5-2) and Priest River (6-7, 4-2). The district tourney will be held at Lakeland High School Feb. 10-14.
