Zags down 43-42 at half

Gonzaga's Matt Bouldin and Portland's Derek Raivio both wear uniform No. 15. They had something else in common Thursday: They lit up the scoreboard in the first half as the host Pilots took a 43-42 edge at halftime.

Bouldin poured in 18 points, hitting 5 of 6 shots, 3 of 4 3-pointers and 5 of 5 free throws. Raivio racked up 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, 3 of 5 3-pointers. The Pilots' junior wing, the younger brother of ex-Zag Derek Raivio, played 13 minutes.

Both teams struggled to contain the other's offense. Portland hit 10 of its first 16 shots before cooling off to 48.4 percent for the half. Gonzaga was 5 of 5 on 3s until Micah Downs missed from long distance under the 8-minute mark.

The scored was tied eight times and there were 11 lead changes. Portland's biggest lead was five; Gonzaga's four.

Jeremy Pargo and Steven Gray each had eight points. T.J. Campbell had nine points and four assists for the Pilots.
