Chiefs face PG
The Spokane Chiefs face Prince George tonight at the Arena and it is the last chance to see standout defenseman Jared Cowen this year.
Hope that didn't make any hearts flutter. Notice it said this year, not this season. Cowen heads for Canada's World Junior tryout camp after Friday's game at Chilliwack.
The Chiefs lose forward Tyler Johnson to the U.S. camp next Wednesday so Saturday's home game against Swift Current is his last appearance.
Defenseman Stefan Ulmer won't leave until after the home game with Seattle on the 18th. That is the Chiefs' last game before the Christmas break. They return to action on Sunday, Dec. 27 when Portland comes.
The world tournament is in Saskatoon and runs from Dec. 26-Jan. 5.
If my math is correct - and it often isn't, Cowen could miss nine games, Johnson seven and Ulmer five if there is a gold medal in their futures.
