Crime along Appleway Trail

First phase nearly complete: A worker uses a wheel to measure distance for electric cable to supply lighting along the Appleway Trail on Tuesday near University Road. The trail between University and Evergreen roads is beginning to take shape, with the first phase between University and Pines roads near completion. The trail is being built along the old Milwaukee Road rail right-of-way south of Sprague Avenue. The estimated cost of the first section is $1.4 million. The plan is for the trail to be part of an expansive trail system in Spokane Valley and is built for pedestrians and bicyclists. To see the full plan visit www.spokanevalley.org/ApplewayTrail. Neighbors have complained about an increase in crime along the Appleway Trail at two recent Spokane Valley city council meetings. Complaints include motorcycles on the trail and people sleeping or camping along the trail. Have you noticed any unusual activity along the trail? Have you called the police or Crime Check about it?
