Spokane County Fire District 9, which stretches above the northern city limits of Spokane and Spokane Valley, will host a demonstration day and wellness fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3801 E. Farwell Road. Firefighters will be demonstrating auto extrications, high-angle rescues and extinguishing fires. Smokey the Bear the be there and residents can exchange old burn barrels, which are now illegal, for compost bins.

As part of the wellness fair residents can get free chair massages, glucose and bone density screenings and blood pressure checks. Various vendors will also be participating.
