If you have ever wanted a chance to get up close and watch firefighters do their job, here's your chance. The Spokane Valley Fire Department will host an open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their training center at 2411 N. Pioneer Lane. It's located next to the fire station at Sullivan and Marietta.

They have a full day planned with a vehicle extrication demonstration, a fire attack demonstration, a firefighter combat course challenge and a demonstration by Mako the arson dog. Lunch will be served. There's no charge for the event and all are invited.
