There are going to be National Night Out Against Crime block parties across the Spokane Valley area tonight. There are too many to list, but there are a couple we can highlight. University SCOPE will be handing out free ice cream bars from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the SCOPE station, 10621 E. 15th. The group will also be handing out information on protecting yourself from break-ins and identity theft.

Edgecliff SCOPE will host a free barbecue tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. at the station, 522 S. Thierman Road. Certified Security and Sound, 1420 N. Pines Road, is hosting a free event from 3 to 7 p.m. tonight. There will be face painting, a coloring contest and other activities.
