Spokane Valley

Free yard waste disposal Saturday

Lots of people have been out working in their yards lately and probably have a nice pile of yard debris that needs to be gotten rid of. Spokane Valley area residents can bring their yard waste for free disposal from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Fire District 8 Station 82, 12100 E. Palouse Highway. Items that won't be accepted include large branches thicker than three inches in diameter or longer than six feet, stumps, dirt, lumber, root balls and trash.

People can also sign up for a free composting seminar to get a free composting bin. You can also get a free composting bin by turning in a burn barrel, which is now illegal to use. The event is hosted by the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency, the Spokane Regional Solid Waste System, the Washingston State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 8.
