Drinking party brawl led to police standoff
Three people received minor wounds from shotgun pellets early this morning as they left an underage drinking party near Pines and Mansfield, according to a press release from the Spokane Valley Police Department. One of the three flagged down a passing Washington State Patrol trooper to report being shot at.
Three people were arrested after the dust settled. Jered Underwood and Dillon J. Wilcher, both 18, were charged with three counts of first-degree assault with a firearm. Robert M. Fleck, 18, was charged with providing false information to police and felony riot.
An underage drinking party was reportedly underway at the home at 12136 E. Mansfield when a group of people arrived. One of the group members had previously arranged to fight one of the people inside the home. The two groups began brawling and the shotgun was fired as the visiting group left, said police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.
The person who allegedly fired the shotgun was barricaded inside the home. He surrendered to police and the SWAT team entered the home to make sure there was no one else inside, Reagan said. Police found three shotguns inside as well as spent and unfired shotgun cartridges.
