Special Session 2, Day 1: This looks familiar

OLYMPIA -- The first day of the 2nd Special Session looked really familiar -- probably because it was like most days of the 1st Special Session. Blink and you missed any sign the Legislature was actually "in session."

Senate started promptly at 9 a.m., went through a few routine paces involving official recognition  they'd finished one 30-day session and were starting another, and adjourned until 10 a.m. Monday. Elapsed time 4 minutes, 21 seconds.

The House moved even quicker. With Spokane Rep. Timm Ormsby at the rostrum, a skeleton crew went through abbreviated readings of official messages that they were starting back up, and quit until 9:55 Monday. Elapsed time, 1 minute, 15 seconds.

Advantage House. Better luck next week Senate, we know you can do better if you try.

Perhaps on Monday they'll get down to the "brass tacks", Gov. Jay Inslee mentioned Thursday when he called the 2nd spec sess.
