WALeg Day 36: Kids’ Day & Presidents Day

OLYMPIA -- The Legislature marks Presidents Day by working and Children's Day by having children at the desks on the floor.
Resolutions on the agenda for both.

Spoiler alert: They both pass. But not before this bit of wisdom on Resolution 4611, recognizing Children's Day for the 20th year in a row: "Children are our future."

In hearings today,  Senate Education takes up questions of restraints on students with disabilities and tax exemptions for technology sold to public schools. House Education considers a constitutional amendment to let school bonds pass with a simple majority, rather than the current 60 percent yes requirement.

House Environment has a resolution asking for action on global climate change and could vote on oil train safety rules.
House Appropriations holds a hearing on a $12 an hour minimum wage bill.Senate Commerce and Labor takes up the prevailing wage and might vote on one of the many medical marijuana bills circulating.
