WALeg Day 22: Marijuana, abortion, revenge porn, Uber
OLYMPIA -- A wide range of issues in bills before legislative committees today.
Various aspects of the state's marijuana laws will be up in House Commerce and Gaming and Senate Commerce and Labor. More examples of how pot is an issue of commerce, not of criminality.
Senate Law & Justice, meanwhile has hearings into a topic that has popped up for decades -- whether parents should be notified when their minor child has abortion -- and a more recent issue -- the posting of intimate pictures online, sometimes known as revenge porn.
Senate Transportation takes up a bill to require hired transportation services to be licensed by the state.
It's also "Have a Heart for Kids Day", when the Children's Alliance brings people concerned about youngsters to Olympia to lobby for legislation they support. They have a rally on the Capitol steps at 11:30 a.m. One can only hope the kids that accompany them will be properly attired for the rain and fog that has settled over the city today.
Definitely a busy afternoon for a post Super Bowl Monday. Here's the full list of hearings:
