The Slice

Looking ahead to next July

So when we observe the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing next year, what will you recall?

A) I was just praying they would be able to get home.

B) I had not been born yet.

C) I was still maintaining a rigorous schedule of burping up.

D) I was 14 and mostly thinking about sports and girls.

E) It was one of those rare uplifting moments when you knew you were sharing history-in-the-making.

F) I mistakenly thought "And this is just the beginning."

G) I was in Vietnam and wished I was up there with them instead.

H) I thought "This changes everything."

I) I was awed by their courage.

J) I never looked at the moon in the same way.

K) I was at the national Boy Scouts jamboree over in Idaho that week and I assumed we would all visit the moon eventually.

L) It made me walk outside and look up at the sky.

M) I remember that everyone had a look of amazement on their faces.

N) I remember my parents holding hands.

O) Other.
