Where were you when Elvis died?
It happened in Memphis on Aug. 16, 1977.
OK, I'll go first. I was in Flagstaff, Ariz. I lived literally across the street from the newspaper where I worked. And I remember going over to the vacant newsroom that night (it was an evening newspaper) and reading Associated Press dispatches emerging from the rhythmic pounding of the teletype machine.
