Re: The “Bloom” in Bloomsday

An eruption of blossoms today reminded me of a Spokane oddity.

You might be aware that the origin of the name Bloomsday owes everything to Irish literature and little, if anything, to arboreal splendor.

But does it make you just a little bit nuts to realize that though the origin story has been told countless times, many in our midst imagine that Bloomsday was conceived as a salute to the vernal season?
