The Slice

He remembers Huckleberry Hound

The other day, I playfully suggested in print that no one remembers Huckleberry Hound.

Of course, that is not really the case.

"Not only do I remember Huckleberry Hound, I'm a lifetime member of the Huckleberry Hound Fan Club," wrote Stan Weisbeck.

"I accomplished this by cutting out and mailing in a form off the back of a cereal box (Cheerios?) along with 15 cents. This was about 1961. I was 9 years old.

"In return, I received a fan club membership card, which I unfortunately lost, and some information about nutrition, which I lost a lot sooner. I never heard from them again.

"Occasionally over the years I've wondered if there's a roster somewhere of us lifetime Huckleberry Hound Fan Club members."
