The Slice

Who will get the panties box this year?

"I grew up in a small Southern Idaho town," wrote Chris Kious, who now lives in Illinois. "My Mom now lives in Pullman so I read the news electronically."

Here's his story.

"Although some of our Christmas wrap was recycled -- especially the fancy stuff, we more frequently reused the clothing boxes that were hard to come by where we shopped. In particular, a 'panties' box with an illustration of a woman with only her panties on was inadvertently used one year. It was well before our teen years, as I recall. This box reappeared year after year with a variety of items, none of which were panties. It became a standing joke into and through our teen years to see who would get that special box regardless of the contents."
