Greeting the new day
You know how birds react to the first light of dawn by chirping their heads off.
Sure. They do it everywhere -- forests, parks, residential neighborhoods.
And downtown Spokane.
The sparrows in the little street-side trees along Sprague were really tuning up this morning.
Their chatter blended with the sound of an occasional passing car to serenade the new morning's arrival.
They didn't pipe down even when a staggering drunk bellowed something incomprehensible.
Maybe he thought he was one of the early birds.
