Paul’s People, No. 68
It was raining, so we didn't go out on the roof this morning for the picture.
But this is Slice reader Wayne Sanders. He's a good guy.
We both finished high school in 1973.
Wayne has been sending me stuff since 2007. It has all been good. But I think my favorite might have been something he wrote in the summer of 2013. Recalling his Illinois childhood, he expressed remorse about having killed countless fireflies with a plastic wiffle ball bat back in the day.
He spoke of going back to the Midwest to visit his brother a few years ago. There didn't seem to be all that many fireflies anymore.
"Makes me wish I had been easier on them years ago."
