You’ll notice that kids say “Trick” first

So there's a tradition in the S-R newsroom of having kids in Halloween costumes go from desk to desk, seeking treats.

Participating editors, reporters and others fly a helium balloon from their work station to signal the presence of candy.

Sure, it sounds all well and good.

But just wait until someone who leaves work early (and doesn't fly a balloon) gets his or her desk egged and toilet-papered.

Then we'll see how sweet it seems.
