Here’s my plan now that I’m 60

I think it’s time to start saying “See you in the funny papers.”

Opinions vary about what exactly that means. But as farewells go, it sounds friendly to me.

Even if it can be interpreted as “You, sir, are a loon,” it still sounds almost jocular compared to lots of choices.

Apparently that expression’s heyday was between the 1920s and World War II. That was before my time, of course. But I like the idea of trying to bring back a classic.

Besides, the allusion to newspapers makes it pretty irresistible.
