The Slice

When dishonest people make it hard for the rest of us

This coming Monday's Slice column notes how stores seem to have moved toward more customer-friendly return policies.

I applaud this.

But after writing that, I found myself thinking about customers who abuse the process of taking things back.

Years ago, I worked with a woman who was somewhat famous for purchasing items of apparel, wearing them to a social occasion and then taking them back to the store.

She apparently had no qualms about that practice.

Ever known anyone who did that?
