I know the rest of the country moved on long ago.

But my wife and I just finished watching the final season of "Breaking Bad" last night. And we found ourselves wondering. Do we know anyone who could actually formulate crystal meth?

We think we do. We have a friend who recently retired after being a honcho at a big medical lab. I have no doubt he could do it.

But I don't intend to suggest that he start cooking. I fully realize that stuff is a scourge of society.

Moreover, I recognize that "Breaking Bad" was not a documentary. I'm not making the mistake of assuming I now know how to whip up a batch of meth because I watched a TV show.

Still, if you know anyone with serious chemistry chops, it's tempting to wonder in a totally theoretical way.
