The Slice

An unexpected reason to get drunk

A colleague told me she forgot last night to fix herself something to eat at work today because she and her husband were celebrating their daughter's selection for an elite sports team.

Of course, her definition of getting drunk might not meet everyone's standards of total inebriation. But still.

I suspect she just had a slight buzz.

But I wonder if she ever would have dreamed, say back when she was a college girl, that she might one day let the wine pour freely in celebration of a child's accomplishment.
