Passport To Gold 2010

Riding the skating shuttle

Rode the shuttle to the Arena today. It's an STA bus in disguise. On the way there, I walked by the entrance to the Davenport Hotel and a group of young people were gathered in front of it, dressed in non-Spokane looking clothes (very tight trendy jeans). They were smoking and speaking in French accents. Not in Spokane anymore!

At the shuttle stop, I noticed "credential swagger." People who have credentials of any kind -- volunteers, the media, skate support teams -- wear them proudly about their necks. People at the shuttle were wearing them OUTSIDE their jackets, even though no real reason to do so.

The shuttle bus driver gave a little travelogue of Spokane as we rode through downtown. "We're going across the river now," he said. "That's Riverfront Park right there."

Two Japanese women looked out the window, oohing and ahhing.

Not in Spokane anymore.
