Parking tickets. Speeding tickets. Tickets to an Air Supply cover band concert. There are just some tickets that no one wants to have.

But tickets to the 2010 U.S. National Figure Skating Championships? Now, those are tickets worth having. In fact, in 2007, nearly 155,000 people watched this elite competition.

Who wouldn't want to see world class competitors vie for the gold. Especially when many of them may go on to compete in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver this February.

When the news broke that once again Spokane would host the championship, the response was overwhelming. As soon as tickets went on sale, folks rushed to snap them up. In fact, Spokane broke the record for initial weekend ticket sales by 25%.

According to this report from Spokane2010.com, "All Event Ticket Package sales for the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which went on sale May 31 at 12 p.m. EST, have set an all-time event record for first-reported ticket sales. As of Monday, June 2 at 1 p.m. EST, 2,692 all-event tickets and 2,026 Skating Spectacular tickets have been sold.

Those sales bring the total number of tickets sold for the event to 45,098 (calculating a minimum of 16 individual tickets per All Event Ticket Package plus 2,026 Skating Spectacular tickets). This number betters the old record by 10,684 tickets, set March 15, 2004 when Spokane sold 34,414 tickets for the 2007 U.S. Championships."

However, that early rush on sales soon leveled out. Nationwide economic woes may be part of the reason. Another reason may be that some folks are hoping to attend the Vancouver Olympics. But if ticket prices are a concern, that might not be a good option.

In an interview with KHQ,  Star USA's Toby Steward said, "Our ticket price for the entire championships is less than basically, what it costs to go to one figure skating event in Vancouver."

Affordable weekend packages are a great value. But the best deal is still the All Event Ticket Package. Here's what you get:

For $595, the All Event Ticket Package includes a book of tickets with a ticket to every competition during the Championships. It   DOES NOT include the Skating Spectacular which may be purchased in addition to this package.

 In addition,

 • There will be 22 competition sessions.

 • The All Event Ticket Package provides a free practice pass that will allow you access to practice sessions 1/14 through 1/23 at the Spokane Arena.  (There will be no public practice at the secondary venue.)

 • If you purchase the Skating Spectacular tickets you will receive the same seat as your All Event seat.

Sasha Cohen, Caroline Zhang, and Ryan Bradley are counting on their fans to fill the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena and cheer them on to victory. And reigning world and Olympic silver medal ice dance duo Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto are ready to rumba across the ice.

An amazing opportunity awaits. And all you need to be a part of history is a ticket.
