As we work our way to Jan. 14, the opening of the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, we want to do what we want to get everyone excited about this world-class competition!

This site will offer everything from the serious fan wondering how to spot their favorite skating stars, and from the newcomer to the sport who is really curious about how it all works.

As we get closer to January, we’ll have information about skating in general, extra details about who is coming to town, and some tips on how to get started if you or your family is interested in figure skating. We’ll give info about local residents who are looking forward to attending performances and meeting skaters, and details about the hundreds of local volunteers who are being tapped to make this special effort come together.

In January, expect even more details about what’s going on, what just happened and what it all means.

We’re always interested in your suggestions and story ideas. Did any of you attend in 2007? Are there any local connections to some of the visiting skaters? What are your plans for seeing as many events as you can?
