HUNTING -- The Sportsmen's Alliance came out with a scoop that will rock the hunting and animal rights communities.   Here's the word as written in the group's media release this morning:

April fools! PeTA, HSUS and others still want to destroy our hunting heritage...

You probably know the Sportsmen's Alliance has been battling bad legislation proposed by groups like PeTA and HSUS for the past 40 years. In that time, we've found that regardless of the political climate, animal-rights groups will continue to attack science-backed wildlife management, and they will continue to manipulate donors by pushing their emotional rhetoric.

Take the recent Facebook ads posted by Sierra Club, HSUS and other anti-hunting organizations. These manipulative campaigns allow anti-hunting groups to raise more than $500 million every year.

Their funding is used to:

  • Finance ballot campaigns attempting to ban hunting and trapping, just like HSUS did in Maine in 2014.

  • Pay signature gatherers to get wildlife management issues on the ballot, just like they did in Montana last year, attempting to ban trapping on public lands.

  • Push legislation to ban mountain lion hunting in Arizona and other Western states. Riding on the high of Cecil the lion anger, HSUS has declared mountain lions are "being driven to extinction by American trophy hunters' bloodlust" and hunting "must end."
  • Encourage deer management through fertility control rather than tried and true hunting methods. Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of HSUS, “non-lethal management methods are not only humane, but can also be more economical and sustainable ways of managing deer and other wildlife.
