HUNTING -- Some wild turkey hunters are glad they didn't get in a big hurry.

Washington's spring gobbler season started April 15 and runs through May 31.  I was one of the hunters who filled both of their spring tags early in the season. That's just the way it worked out.

But hunters still in the field are finding lonesome gobblers looking for love now that most hens are on nests. That can translate into exciting one-on-ones with big toms.

Thor Ostrom didn't just find any lonesome gobbler last weekend.  He found the monster pictured above.

The Stevens County tom taken on May 21 had FIVE beards totaling 30.5 inches. The longest was 10.5 inches. The bird weighed 21 pounds, 4 ounces.

That turkey has been around for awhile. Now it's Thor's.
