Idaho Panhandle National Forests selling property in Avery, Clarkia

FOREST SERVICE -- Looking for a second home near a good trout stream or a facility that would make other elk camps look puny?

Beginning  Thursday, Oct. 15, the Idaho Panhandle National Forests will be offering two unused or lightly staffed properties for sale to the highest bidder. The properties in Avery and Clarkia are no longer needed to meet the needs of the local Forest Service mission, said Jason Kirchner, agency spokesman in Coeur d'Alene.

"Due to their low use and ongoing facilities maintenance costs, the Idaho Panhandle National Forests have chosen to sell these properties," he said.

The Avery “White” Troll House at 79 Dooley, Avery, Idaho 83802 consists of a house that is 768 sq. ft. and a small storage shed. The house was constructed in 1947. The mineral estate will be included in the estate to be sold. Open house tours for this property are scheduled for Oct. 17 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 2. p.m.

The Clarkia Work Center at 54495 Hwy 3 Clarkia, Idaho, has a unique “camp nature” and layout of the buildings and other improvements. The several buildings on the property include an office, three houses, garages, cookhouse, bunkhouses, trailer parking, warehouse and several storage buildings. Open house tours for this property are scheduled for Oct. 21 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bidding will take place online at the General Services Administration’s (GSA) website RealEstateSales.gov beginning Oct. 15.

For more information about the bidding process or property details, please contact Leanne Maupin at 208-765-7275 or lmaupin@fs.fed.us.
