Arnold the quotemaster, revisited
Though I’ve done it before, I’m always willing to explore favorite quotes. The quotes I want to look at now involve the great former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger: Following are five of my favorite.
5. In “Conan the Barbarian” (1982), you have the title character answering the question, “What is the best in life”?. The answer: “To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.” (For my friend, Dan Fratini)
4. In “The Terminator” (1984), the title character, searching for Sarah Conner, is told at a police station to sit down and wait. His answer: “I’ll be back.” (pronounced, “All be bock”)
3. In “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991), the Terminator is learning how to speak Spanglish slang: “Hasta la vista, baby.”
2. In “Total Recall” (1990), one version of Schwarzenegger’s character is talking to another part of the same guy: “This is Hauser. If things have gone wrong, I’m talking to myself and you don’t have a wet towel around your head. Now. whatever your name is, get ready for the big surprise. You are not you. You are me!”
1. And, finally, in “Raw Deal” (1986), Schwarzenegger as a former FBI agent, to his drunken wife, who has just smashed a cake against the kitchen wall: “You should not drink and bake!”
