WEST TIGHTENS LEGENDS POINTS RACE WITH VICTORY

Wrango West holds down top-3 points positions in Montana Raceway Park's Legends division and Late Model class withone month remaining in the season.

KALISPELL, Mont. (August 29, 2009)-Wrango West made a clean sweep of Westward Bound Construction/Keller Williams Legends racing at Montana Raceway Park on Saturdya, August 29 and in doing so tightened the points race for the 2009 championship against leader Scott Dalla and rising star, Jake Bissett.

Tim Corbett picked up the pole award for the division with a time of 14.796-seconds-which was the only title West did not secure on Saturday night.

West stormed to a strong win in the night’s trophy dash then bested Brandon Sickler and Dalla in the A-Heat race. From there is was a hard fought win over Corbett, Dalla, Corpron and Bissett to close to within nine points of Dalla heading into the season’s final two races of the season (Sept. 12 and 26). Bissett trails West by five points and is just 14 points out of first place with one race remaining in the season.

Corpron holds down the fourth spot in the points chase by eight points over Joe Bissett.

Katie Pilsch continued her winning ways in the Hornet division as she bested Cory Reum and Kyle Basler to the strip in the division’s main event.

Travis Cannon picked up fast time with a lap of 17.840-sec. The trophy dash went to Justin Greskowiak with Pilsch and Ryan Krause winning Hornet heat races.

Pilsch (463), Reum (-38) and Basler (-67) hold down the top three positions in the chase for the 2009 Hornet Championship with three races remaining.

Jason Young had the fast time in the Bomber division with a 16.574-sec. pass around the high-banked Kalispell quarter-mile. Young went on to finish seventh in the division’s Main Event.

Jimmy Worsham earned a win in one of the group’s two Heat Races then went out and showed a strong car in the main with a win over Bill McCallum and Wes Mijies.

Dave Berglund and Steve Gundmunson rounded out the top-5 Bomber main event finishers.

Young leads McCallum by 22 points in the chase in the ’09 divisional title heading into this weekend’s 75-lap main event.

Mike Hilliker was the fastest Bandolero in the house with a qualifying lap of 15.343-sec. Currently fifth in the points standings Hilliker is closing fast on the top spot as he captured his second main event in as many races.

Points leader, Devin Clayton, won the group’s trophy dash second to Hilliker in the Heat Race and Main Event with Dalton Halden rounding out the top-3 in both races.

Halden trails Clayton by just ten points with one race remaining on Sept. 19.

Zack Mongan picked up the victory in the Sportsman main event with the division’s top-2 points racers, Josh Robinson (2nd place) and Jason Robinson (1st) running right behind Mongan’s white and purple machine.

Jason Robinson set fast time with a lap of 14.309-sec. and picked up the win in the night’s trophy dash. Dan Morris was the Heat Race winner over Mongan and Chuck Swope.



Racing resumes at Montana Raceway Park on Saturday, Sept. 5 with a 75-lap Bomber main event, free race car rides for kids. Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, Thunder Roadsters, Hornets and Compacts will also be competing this weekend.
