Wild Card/Thursday -- 2.2.17 30 

Today has been special to me for all of my life. My father was born on Groundhog Day, in 1921. He was short (5-6 1/2), stocky and a very good man with a great sense of humor. He worked hard running a 500-acre dairy with several hundred cows. He never had an illusion that I'd follow in his foot steps.

Labrador backs term limits bill 12 

Rep. Raúl Labrador, R-Idaho, has introduced a constitutional amendment imposing term limits in the House and Senate. Labrador’s H.J. Res. 50 was introduced in the House on Tuesday and has 12 original cosponsors. The resolution would amend the Constitution to limit service to six two-year House terms and two six-year Senate terms.

Nate wants front plate exemption 14 

Last year, a Senate committee deadlocked on Corvette-driving Sen. Jim Patrick’s proposal to remove Idaho’s requirement for a front license plate on vehicles, killing it on a 4-4 vote. Today, the House Transportation Committee agreed unanimously to introduce a different version of the bill from Rep. Ron Nate, R-Rexburg.

'Reunion of Best Friends' 

The Dog Park at McEuen Park is sporting a new piece of public art -- "Reunion of Best Friends" by Jason Funderburg of Valhalla Iron Works, Post Falls. I spotted the art work on the northeast corner of the Dog Park. As you can see, some dog lovers had taken their pets out for a run in the snow. One of the dogs in the background is named "Noodles."

House OKs tax-cut bill 58-11 

The House has voted 58-11 in favor of HB 67, Rep. Mike Moyle’s tax cut bill, which would lower the top personal and corporate income tax rates from 7.4 percent to 7.2 percent, plus exempt the first $750 in taxable income. The Bard loved Blogfest 2016 

As you know, Tom Wobker, The Bard of Sherman Avenue, attended Blogfest 2016. And took his well-deserved public bow to the applause of those there. At the time, Tom was dying from the cancer that finally took him. He never had a memorial service. His wife, Sharon, told me afterward that Blogfest served that purpose.

Edit: Hold nose & agree with Hoffman 12 

Among the three things that makes the Coeur d'Alene Press Editorial Board uncomfortable is agreeing with executive director Wayne Hoffman of the Idaho Freedom Foundation. But the Press says Hoffman is correct when it says that the Idaho Legislature should do away with the sales tax on groceries.
