Agencies expand Fernan advisory 

The current health advisory for Fernan Lake has been expanded by Panhandle Health District (PHD) and Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The advisory was initially issued due to high concentrations of blue-green algae on the east side of the lake, which has now spread, impacting the entire lake.

Kootenai Co joblessness at 4.6% 

Kootenai County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.6 percent in July, down from 5 percent a year ago, according to the Idaho Department of Labor. Other North Idaho counties had improved labor market outlooks in July compared to a year ago, the agency said.

Have you heard of the 'Idaho stop'? 17 

Did you know that Idaho bicyclists, by law, aren't required to stop at stop signs. Rather, they can treat a stop sign as a yield sign. It's called the "Idaho stop." As a part-time bicyclist, I support the 1982 law, the only one of its kind in the nation. But some motorists don't. What say you?
