Poll: Idaho opposes LGBT guidelines

A majority of respondents say they oppose new school standards regarding gender identity and sexual orientation, according to a poll released Monday. Fifty-six percent of respondents opposed the Idaho School Boards Association guidelines designed to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students, according to an Idaho Politics Weekly poll. Meanwhile, 36 percent of respondents supported the standards. Respondents voiced opposition to the standards — which include gender-neutral dress codes and accommodations for same-sex couples at school dances — after they were told that a vast majority of districts have not adopted them. In October, the Associated Press had reported districts were slow to adopt the guidelines, issued in July by the ISBA/Kevin Richert, Idaho Education News. More here.
