Sgt. Christie Wood just sent this email to the media announcing that she will retire Dec. 16:

"I have been talking to some of you for several months about my possible retirement. I am happy to say the date has been chosen!

"I will depart my perfect home of CDAPD on December 16th of this year. It was a difficult decision because of my love of the job, and my work with all of you but it is also the right decision for me. My only regret is Chief White did not come here 5 years ago because he is a kick in the pants to work for and I enjoy every minute of it.

"Anyway-I have a lot of things I want to do in life so it’s time to give up my day job and hand it off to other very capable team members.

"I had the privilege of being involved in the selection of my replacements. We have chosen Officers Jared Reneau and Tom Sparks as our new PIO’s.

"They will continue to have their other PD duties so the PIO position is not full time for either one of them, but since there are two of them we hope to deliver better service to you. In the very near future I will reach out to you and make introductions to those of you who have not met them. We are in process of setting up email groupings and getting new phone numbers for them. I will be sending their contact information to you next week.  I will continue to handle most of the media inquiries at least through November (unless I throw their feet to the fire sooner…).

"It is going to be exciting times for CDAPD. These two are exemplary officers and they will do a great job

"In closing, it has been an incredible privilege to spend the majority of my LE career working with all of you. I am truly one of your biggest fans and understand the value of what you do. Best wishes to all of you."
