In breaking down the Coeur d'Alene City Council numbers, I notice that between 1,131-1,151 fewer people voted in the election for incumbent Dan Gookin than voted in the two other council races. Gookin, who was running unopposed, received 3,559 votes last night -- or about 25% less than the total votes for the Edinger-Schindelbeck (4,690) and Adams-English-MacNeil (4,710) elections. Is it possible that Gookin might have had a tough race on his hands, if a centrist candidate had run against him. We'll never know. Alas.
