Football Was Violent A Century Ago
Nils Rosdahl, former North Idaho College journalism instructor, dropped off his book of Spokesman-Review political cartoon drawn by William Morris, circa 1908. A number of the cartoons are about Teddy Roosevelt, who was considering a run for a third term. Some are outdated, of course. Some are quaint. The one above could have been drawn yesterday. Seems Teddy Roosevelt was concerned about brutality in football. What do you suppose he would have thought of the modern college and NFL problem with concussions? (Click on photo for a bigger view)
