Gookin RE: CdA’s Tammany Hall?

In the Coeur d'Alene Press comments section (re: LCDC dispute emerges at mayoral debate): City Councilman Dan Gookin responds: "The fallacy of the Berns/Eastwood argument is that McEuen Park wasn't sold as a project to increase nearby property values. The Park was first sold as a tourist destination. That then changed to a downtown gathering place once taxpayers wondered why we were spending so much money for people who didn't live here. Apparently now the real purpose of the Park has finally been disclosed. Regardless of their augment, the truth is that the Park, and all the public money dumped into it, was to benefit key downtown property owners. We knew that all all along; it's just been confirmed. Check out George W. Plunkitt of Tammany Hall for a definition of 'Honest Graft.'"

Question: Recently, Gookin said that Coeur d'Alene was run by threats and intimidation. Now, he's raising the specter of Tammany Hall to complain about McEuen Field funding. Thoughts?
