Kent Leiss has been fired as Coeur d’Alene boys basketball coach. The on-again, off-again saga that began in late January concluded Thursday when Leiss was told by Principal Warren Olson and athletic director Todd Gilkey in a 1-hour meeting that they were recommending that he not be rehired. “They’re claiming a majority of the players in the program wouldn’t play if I was the coach,” Leiss said. “I don’t know if I totally agree with it. I’m irritated with the whole process. I felt like I was blindsided with it back in late January. I didn’t think there was a process. I think they winged it”/Greg Lee, SR. More below.
