Spencer Endorses Dan English

Conservative gadfly Larry Spencer wrote this in a letter to the Coeur d'Alene Press today:

I have a confession to make. For the first time in my life, I have voted for a Democrat, and I am asking my fellow Republicans to join me. As a staunchly conservative Republican who received 32 percent of the vote in this spring's Republican Primary election for county commissioner, I believe that my reasons are solid and will advance Republican values and principles. In the Idaho House of Representatives, a Democrat really can't do harm, because there are so few of them that their votes are inconsequential. The candidats that can harm conservative goals are the candidates who pretend to be Republicans but aren't. More below.

Thoughts?

they understand that they have to claim to be Republicans to get elected. When they get to Boise, their designation as "Republicans" gives them the ability to undermine conservative legislation because other Republicans trust that everyone claiming to be a Republican actually is one.

Candidate Ed Morse is the appraiser who provided what would charitably be described as a "padded" appraisal of the NIC "Education Corridor" property, resulting in the taxpayers paying over $10 million for property that was likely worth less than half that amount. He is partners with the Meyers (Judy Meyer is the super liberal trustee on the NIC board) and his close associates are supporters of urban renewal. I believe his real estate agenda is to protect his friends and partners from changes that would limit the cash cow that urban renewal provides them.

Dan English might be a token vote against things I believe in, but his ia an honest man, and in my opinion, Ed Morse lacks not only honesty but also a moral compass and integrity.
