Dismissal Of Claim Vs. NIC Upheld

The Idaho Supreme Court has upheld the dismissal of a discrimination claim filed against North Idaho College by a former student who alleges she was sexually harassed by an instructor while taking classes several years ago. In a decision Thursday, the court affirmed a previous ruling against Victoria Johnson in the claim she filed under Idaho's Human Rights Act. Johnson alleges she was harassed by her then-instructor Donald Friis shortly after she started classes in 2001 and again in 2004, when she re-enrolled after withdrawing. Johnson filed a formal complaint in 2005 and the college determined Friis had violated its sexual harassment policy. Court documents show Friis resigned rather than face termination/AP. More here. And: August 2008 summary judgment in favor of NIC/Friis by U.S. District Court here.
