My extended family enjoyed the wiener dog races at Rathdrum Days Saturday, where two dogs belonging to friends failed to perform up to expectations. I won't name names. But the two mutts didn't venture more than a foot or two from the starting line, with one of them ultimately hiding behind its owners, who watched red-faced as more professional wiener dogs raced down the course.
