A Flag For Independence Day
A soldier hands out an American flag during Coeur d'Alene's Fourth of July Parade. (Duane Rasmussen photo special to Huckleberries Online)
A Berry Picker emails: "Most of the parade entries followed Coeur d’Alene’s very restrictive rules of not handing anything out. I saw the kids choir handing out a couple of fliers about an upcoming concert, one of the churches giving paperwork about their church, and Dutch Bros was giving out a couple of Rebel drinks here and there. But the group that was really active in trying to hand something out to everyone in the crowd was the GOP with their flags. I’d like to know if they didn’t know/didn’t care about the rules or had a dispensation for flags only. It’s one thing to say “it’s just flags, what’s the harm” but most everyone else seemed to be following the rules."
DFO: The local Republicans, I believe, are the only ones with permission to hand things out along the parade route, American flags. The soldier above obviously isn't representing the Republican Party. But I doubt if anyone is going to complain that he handed out a flag to this little boy.
Question: Did you get any handouts at the parade?
